I saw this in the news today that a developer is going to be building homes made from shipping containers in a small subdivision in Garden City.

I personally think its a very cool idea. I like the idea of repurposing these containers. I also like the idea that they are built using materials that may very well be more durable over the long run than traditional housing materials.
It will be interesting to see how homeowners react to these homes. I think the novelty will certainly bring some interest, but will buyers have a problem finding a lender willing to make a loan on these? Will home inspectors know enough about the construction to be able to comment on the safety and utility of the structure? How will city building codes be affected?
